Almost every CS2 player has typed some version of "what sensitivity does [pro] use" into a search bar at some point, usually right before copying the number exactly and wondering why it doesn't feel the same. The real settings are out there, and they're genuinely useful to know, but the numbers alone miss the more interesting part: why different pros land on wildly different values despite all chasing the same thing. Here's the actual data, and how to use it properly instead of just pasting someone else's number into your config.

Before getting into specific numbers, it's worth explaining the one stat that actually matters more than either sensitivity or DPI on their own: eDPI, or effective DPI. It's simply your DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity multiplier, and it's the number that actually determines how far your crosshair moves for a given physical mouse movement. Two players can have completely different DPI and sensitivity values and still play at an identical effective speed, which is exactly why comparing raw sensitivity numbers between pros without accounting for DPI is close to meaningless.

The Numbers, Player by Player

Here's where nearly every top pro actually lands, based on the most recently documented configs. Worth flagging upfront: these numbers shift over time as players make small adjustments, and different tracking sites occasionally disagree slightly on the exact current value for any given player, so treat these as a reliable recent snapshot rather than a permanently fixed reference.

s1mple plays at 400 DPI with a 3.09 in-game sensitivity multiplier, landing at 1236 eDPI, meaningfully higher than almost anyone else at the top level. It's consistently described as an outlier even among pros, reflecting an aggressive, flick-heavy style built around fast target acquisition rather than slow, deliberate tracking.

ZywOo sits at 400 DPI with a 2.0 multiplier, giving 800 eDPI, which has become something like the archetypal AWPer setting in CS2. m0NESY lands at the same 800 eDPI through the same 400 DPI and 2.0 combination, though matching ZywOo's numbers exactly doesn't mean the two setups feel identical once you factor in mouse shape, pad friction, and years of individually built muscle memory.

NiKo plays on the lower end for a rifler, generally cited around 560 eDPI from 400 DPI and a 1.4 multiplier, a setup that favors deliberate micro-corrections over fast flicks and asks for more physical mouse travel to cover the same distance on screen. ropz sits at roughly 708 eDPI from 400 DPI and a 1.77 multiplier, and stands out partly for playing at native 1920x1080 rather than the stretched 4:3 resolution most of the scene favors.

donk is the one player where the numbers genuinely disagree across sources. Different trackers have listed his setup anywhere from around 640 eDPI up to 1000 eDPI, all built on an 800 DPI base rather than the near-universal 400 DPI most of the scene uses. Rather than picking one figure and presenting it as settled fact, it's worth treating this specific case as a reminder that even actively-tracked pro settings can be a moving target, and that 800 DPI itself is becoming more common among younger players even as 400 remains the dominant standard overall.

A few more reference points worth having: device plays around 752 eDPI, sh1ro sits around 680 eDPI, and across the wider pool of tracked professionals, the practical range for competitive play generally lands somewhere between 500 and 1300 eDPI, with most players clustering well inside that band rather than at either extreme.

Why DPI Is Almost Always 400, Even Though Sensitivity Varies Wildly

If there's one number that's nearly universal across the pro scene, it's DPI sitting at 400, even as in-game sensitivity multipliers vary enormously from player to player. Part of that is technical, 400 is a native sensor step supported by essentially every gaming mouse on the market, which avoids any interpolation artifacts that can come from non-native DPI steps on some sensors. Part of it is simply cultural at this point, 400 DPI has been the standard for long enough that it's become the default starting point players adjust from, rather than something each new generation independently rediscovers.

The Role-Based Pattern Underneath the Individual Numbers

Once you group these numbers by role rather than by individual player, a genuinely useful pattern shows up. AWPers tend to cluster lower, generally somewhere in the 500 to 900 eDPI range, since landing shots through a scope rewards slower, more controlled movement over fast flicks. Riflers looking for a balance between flick speed and spray control tend to land in a middle band, roughly 450 to 650 eDPI, which is where players like NiKo and ropz sit. Entry fraggers, who need to clear multiple angles almost instantly on defense-breaking pushes, often run slightly faster setups in the 500 to 700 range. IGLs and support-focused players frequently sit lower still, generally 400 to 600 eDPI, since consistency during rifle bursts matters more for that role than raw flick speed. s1mple's 1236 and donk's disputed but clearly faster-than-average setup are the visible outliers in either direction, and they're outliers precisely because their individual playstyles lean unusually hard into fast target acquisition over methodical tracking.

Resolution and Refresh Rate: The Other Half of the Equation

Sensitivity gets most of the attention, but resolution choice matters just as much for how a setup actually feels. The scene splits roughly 70/30 in favor of stretched 4:3 resolution over native 16:9, with the stretched image making player models appear wider and, according to most of its advocates, easier to track. Notable holdouts on native resolution include donk and ropz, both of whom prioritize the wider field of view that native 16:9 provides over the model-stretching effect. NiKo's setup is a good reminder that "4:3" doesn't automatically mean the same thing for everyone either, since he plays on a 4:3 aspect ratio at 1152x864 rather than the more common 4:3 stretch pattern.

On refresh rate, the picture is far more unified: most professionals play at 240Hz or 360Hz regardless of their resolution choice, since higher refresh rates reduce input latency and improve motion clarity during fast engagements, independent of whatever else is happening with sensitivity or aspect ratio.

Video and Audio Settings: Function Over Looks

Across dozens of tracked pro configs, the consensus on video settings is remarkably consistent: raw input enabled, V-Sync always disabled, motion blur off, and in-game visual quality settings like shadows, model detail, shader detail, and anti-aliasing turned down to low or disabled entirely, all in the interest of maximizing frame rate and minimizing any visual noise that doesn't directly help with spotting enemies. Some players keep shadow quality at medium specifically because shadows can reveal gameplay-relevant information, like an enemy's position around a corner, which is one of the few visual settings pros will deliberately keep on rather than strip out.

Audio settings follow a similar logic. Master volume tends to sit somewhere in the 30 to 60% range depending on personal preference, music volume gets set to zero across the board since it interferes with hearing footsteps and utility sounds, and most pros stick to stereo headphones rather than surround sound, since CS2's audio design is built around stereo positioning rather than surround channels. HRTF, which processes audio to make directional footsteps and sounds feel more precisely placed in 3D space, is enabled by the large majority of tracked professionals.

How to Actually Use This Information

The honest answer to "should I just copy s1mple's sensitivity" is almost always no, and not because his settings are wrong for him, but because they're built around his specific playstyle, years of accumulated muscle memory, and physical setup, none of which transfers by typing the same number into your own config. A more useful approach is picking a starting eDPI based on your role, somewhere in the ranges above depending on whether you play more like an AWPer, rifler, entry, or support, and then testing in small increments from there. Run a session at your baseline, then try adjusting by roughly 10% in each direction and see which one actually improves your tracking and flick accuracy over a couple of sessions. Once two consecutive sessions stop showing improvement in either direction, you've likely found your actual number, which may end up nowhere near any specific pro's setup, and that's completely fine.
